June 8 was a huge day of celebration for Carnegie Mellon University and the Tony Awards as the entities joined forces during the 69th Annual Tony Awards to present the first Excellence in Theatre Education Award to Corey Mitchell of Charlotte, N.C. Subra Suresh, president of Carnegie Mellon, was joined by Peter Cooke, head, School of Drama, and Judith Light, accomplished actress and alumna of the School of Drama, to present Mitchell with the award during a pre-telecast ceremony.
