The Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry is a flexible laboratory for new modes of arts research, production and presentation. We provide opportunities for learning, dialogue and research that lead to innovative breakthroughs, new policies and the redefinition of artists' roles in a quickly changing world.

The Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry is a flexible laboratory for new modes of arts research, production and presentation:

providing grants to faculty, students and staff in support of their arts research.

inviting artists-in-residence to work on innovative projects and engage with the CMU community.

building bridges between cultural initiatives and technical resources.

developing public venues for the presentation of innovative work.

conducting free and low-cost public educational activities.

The Frank-Ratchye Further Fund

STUDIO administers the Frank-Ratchye Further Fund — an endowment to encourage the creation of innovative artworks by the faculty, staff and students of Carnegie Mellon University. With this fund, STUDIO seeks to develop a cache of groundbreaking projects created at CMU, works that can be described as "thinking at the edges" of the intersection of disciplines.
